Dark Moon Mysteries: The Black Dog Guardian 

Folklore is filled with images of black dog graveyard guardians standing between heaven and hell, and older Pagan myths speak of gods like  Egyptian Jackal god Anubis acting as psychopomp to the underworld, and guardians like the Greek Cerberus, Norse wolf Garm, and those hounds of Annwn found in the faery faith.
